Carvan Butlins

out and about

Minehead is the perfect place for a family holiday.

In the town centre there is a good selection of shops and a large market twice a week during the high season. A farmers market is held on The Avenue every Friday.
home

Minehead is the home of the West Somerset Steam Railway where you can take a trip into the past on a steam train, or take part in one of the many events such as Murder Mystery Tours.

You can see the glorious Somerset Coast from a Paddle Steamer from Minehead Harbour.

Of course there is also a beautiful sandy beach on the doorstep.

Food and Drink
There are many pubs and restaurants, all within walking distance of Butlins. For a very good carvery or pub meal, and excellent outdoor fun for the kids, we recommend The Hairy Dog on Minehead High Street. Nearby Mullions Restaurant serves an excellent A La Carte menu with a very warm welcome. There is also the new Wetherspoons which was formerly the Wellington Hotel, and has it's own nightclub, Lloyds.

Exmoor
Exmoor is the home of many beautiful villages such as Porlock, Selworthy and Dunster. (According to my friend Rachel, the tea rooms at the bottom of Dunster Castle serves the best cream teas in the world!). If you like walking, the South West Coast Path will take you along North Hill towards Porlock.

There are lots of other places to visit, including:

- Tropiquaria (15 minutes drive)
- Dunster Castle (5 minutes drive)
- Minehead Golf Club(discounted fees for Butlins guests)
- Porlock Hill and Weir (about 15 minutes drive)
- Dunkery Beacon - the highest point on Exmoor (approx 25 minutes drive)
- Open-topped bus ride from Minehead to Lynmouth
- Cheddar Gorge (approx 2 hours drive)
